How do I change freedb ?

    I'm wonder where can I find on how to change the default "freedb.freedb.org" so I can use allmusic.com if possible. I always have problem when the name album is to generic and I get the full 75 objects and can't find the album I'm looking for.

    I've look thru the UserData but couldn't find it. I'm using XBMC - 2006-08-22

    I have some albums that have very common words in them eg. "Mozart, or "The best of" ". I get the full 75 hits but none are the right one. Any ideas? As for Allmusic.com it's seems it does search for one or the other but I think xbmc only searches for titles not artists. I would be nice to leave the title blank and seach for artist since one artist I know only has less than 75 albums. This way I could chooose one of the ones I can't find the other way.


  • thats an allmusic.com limit, not an xbmc limit.


  • Question why is 75 objects the limit? I do have 128 meg in my XBOX and I think I can handle a bit more :)


  • You appear to be confused.

    Freedb is used for CDDA audio disks.

    AllMusic.com is used whenever you do an Album Information lookup.

    Neither address should be necessary to change (and allmusic.com can't be). You can do a manual lookup with allmusic.com though (should allow you to adjust the album name slightly to perhaps get a better hitrate).

    The main problem is that allmusic.com does not allow search by artist AND album. At least I'm pretty sure it doesn't. If in fact it does, and you can find the URL structure to let us do it, then please let us know.

  • You are correct. Xbmc searches by album. Unfortunately, Allmusic.com does not allow searching for both artist and album at the same time. After it gets the returned list, xbmc tries to find the correct artist. When it cant, it presents you the list.
