2000 Chevrolet Corvette with almost 180,000 miles?
I posted a question about this last night. I found a corvette with almost 180k miles and they want about 9500, from a dealer. Extended dealer warranty available. No idea how it was driven, where it was driven, etc. I plan to look this weekend and take it to a mechanic. The car is red with no noticeable blemishes, the paint almost shines better than my wifes 07 mazda cx-7. Of course, looks can be deceiving.
I have the VIN for the car, do you know any site where I can get a free carfax type thing?
Do you guys think the price is fair? Would you go for it? What would you offer?
Thanks a lot in advance.
That's a lot of miles for an 8 year old vette. I would do a carfax on it (or better yet ask the dealer for it). A lot of vette owners (like me) take very good care of their cars. I know a guy with a 1999 that he drove daily for the first 8 years that he had it that wins in big shows with it. Paint looks great. Vette owners in general are totally anal about their cars and especially about their care.
Unless it was owned by someone who didn't appreciate the car at all, chances are good that very good care was taken of it. I don't know what to tell you except that make sure you have a good warranty. Vettes are very expensive to have worked on (the Corvette tax). Also, realize that the tires are run flats (you have no spare) and cost an arm and a leg (about $400 a tire) and they last less than 20,000 miles. Also, your insurance will probably be very high. Just be sure you take all of that into consideration before you buy.
