a good website for reptiles in general to check out is king snake.com they have forums for every kind of reptile there is that people keep as pets they have an excellent corn snake forum and a good ball python forum.
both snakes are easy to care for..my corn snakes have in 30 long tanks and the warm side of the tank is between 79-85 degrees I do this by using a zoomed in fared heat bulb. They each have a half log to hide under, and a dish for water..I keep my snakes on newspaper as it is cheap and easy to clean not quite as nice as aspen shavings but just easier.
My ball python I keep at about the same temperature and same thing she is in a 30 long tank, with a half log hide, and a water dish.
I feed both my ball python a medium sized rat every two weeks and my adult corn snake a small mouse every two weeks, right now my other two corns are still babies so they are getting fuzzy mice once a week.
Kathy Love has an excellent book on corn snakes that I recommend. Ball pythons are nice but not to active the only time we see ours is when she is hungry, but our corn snakes are always active..but both snakes are very docile in temperament and are good first snakes..
good luck with your snake
