MySQL connections never over 72?

  • I have noticed, I think anyways, that my active MySQL connections never go over 71-72. Am I imagining things? Is there a setting somewhere defining or limited MySQL connections?

  • where ya looking for mysql active connections ? what variable ?

  • Thats the only the number currently running at that time, most of the time the process ends after 0.1s so 300 users might be online but only 73 clicked something in the last X seconds.
exactly... vB users online can be misleading at times - in a good way though :)

...and I guess I was wrong. I saw it shoot to 75 today. As much as I have been recommended to split to 2 servers, I think there is something going on with my server than meets the eye. It's like all of a sudden one day I started getting 400-1000+ processes running from my normal 250-300. I was trying to think back and can't think of anythignthat changed on my end that may have caused this. The site has been getting more popular, but not overnight lol. Up until last week this server was running outstandingly DREAMY eben with as many sites I have going. Weird.

  • These can be set in your my.cnf file.

  • Turned out mine got to 75ish. Something very weird going on though... this server has been running like a friggin dream and all of a sudden this week is crap. crashing, load skyrocketing you name it. I know I have a FEW more peopel hitting the sites but I dont think all THAT more than I had when it was running fantastic. Very weird. I am installing a robots.txt though to keep out google bots as I dicovered there were like 30+ scouring my forums sheesh!

  • What I've noticed as well, is that each httpd process grows in size, yet my RAM usage percentage in Cpanel doesnt reflect any increase in consumption?

    Can anyone explain that anomaly!
