Someone please help me with this?

  • Ok well im 18 and my sister is 17. We are home alone this weekend because our parents went to a wedding a few hours away. We just moved to this town so we have no family around. Anyway my sister and i went out to eat and went to the mall a few hours ago. Now she's sick. She has a really really bad stomach ache, she's cold, tired and a little light headed. What is this and how can i make her feel better until my parents can get home? We're really close so i'll do anything to make her feel a little better. Thanks

  • Curious, if sudden it most likely related to bad food. What did she eat? Does she have a food allergy?

You really need to call your parents in case they have any further instructions and so they will be aware. Esp. because they are "a few hours away" Mom might want to come home and that's her prerogative since her children are more important. Moms want to nurture their sick children so don't keep this from her.

And if she does not get better, you may have to call an ambulance to get her to the hospital. If she develops a very high fever with severe shakes, uncontrollable vomiting, fainting, a really bloated stomach and other symptoms that may alarm you.

If it is related to food, hopefully she will start to vomit or diarrhea (but not to excess, just enough to get rid of the food) which is the body's way to get rid of bad food.

  • sounds like a flu, give her some tylenol and a glass of ginger ale. Have her lay down for a while and hope she feels better

  • Sounds like she may have a touch of food poisoning. Even if you ate the very same thing, different people have different constitutions and are more susceptible than others. Keep an eye on her, comfort measures, etc., and if she isn't better by morning you may want to take her in to see a doctor (minor emergency clinic perhaps).

Good luck, hope she feels better soon...

  • Have her lay down and cover her with a warm blanket. A cold compress on her forehead may comfort her, also, if you have a hot water bottle or heating pad it may help to put that on her tummy. It sounds like she may have gastroenteritis or maybe even a touch of food poisoning. Did you eat the same thing as your sister? If so and you are okay then it isn't food poisoning. How long until your parents get home?
